27(1); A person shall not import an animal, animal product or article without an import permit issued by the Director.
29 (2); The Minister may, by statutory instrument, prohibit the export of animals, animal products, animal by-products or articles from Zambia, or any part of Zambia, in general or to one or more designated countries of destination, unless and until all regulations with regard to their export have been complied with, and may at any time, by like notice rescind such prohibition.
62; The Minister may make regulations for the restriction, limitation or prohibition of the importation of any animal feed or class of animal feed into Zambia and the conditions under which the animal feed may be imported.
49; The Minister may, by statutory notice, prohibit, restrict or regulate the immigration or importation into Zambia of any person, animal, article or thing likely, in his opinion, to introduce any infectious disease, or impose restrictions or conditions as regards the examination, detention, disinfection, or otherwise of any such person, animal, article or thing.

3(1); For the purposes of these Regulations, Zambia shall be divided into veterinary districts as specified in the First Schedule.(2) No stock shall be moved in or out of the veterinary district without a permit issued by a veterinary officer or other person authorized by the Director.
4(1); The areas described in the Second Schedule shall be quarantine stations in or out of which no stock shall be moved without a permit issued by an authorized officer.

24(1); The Director may designate any place any place as an animal quarantine station.(2) The Director may require any animal, animal product, animal by-product or article, to be kept at an animal quarantine station or any other location the Director may determine.
25; The Director may, by written notice served on an owner of animals which are in quarantine station or area, lift the quarantine where the Director determines that a notifiable disease is no longer present in the quarantine station or area and does not pose a threat to other animals outside of the quarantine station or area.
27 (3); The Minister may, by regulation provide for the detention of any animal, animal product, animal by-product or article which is imported and the measures to be taken during the detention. According to section 80 the Minister may provide for quarantine or isolation of any animal, animal product, animal by-product or article.
9(2); any permit issued pursuant to the provisions of the Act or any regulation or order made thereunder may be issued subject to such conditions as to quarantine, isolation, disinfection, detention, route to be followed, control of stock or other like matter as the issuing officer in his discretion may specify therein.

33(2); an appropriate authority may at borders take temporary measures in the interests of defence, security, public safety, public order or public health. The temporary measures, referred to in subsection (1), shall not exceed a period of three months at a time.

6(1)(b); a veterinary officer may destroy or order the destruction at any time of any animal, animal product, animal by-product, article or animal feed which is diseased, moved or used contrary to the provisions of this Act.
8(1); where a veterinary officer reasonably believes that it is not necessary to destroy an animal, animal product, animal by- product or article seized, the veterinary officer shall release the animal, animal product, animal by-product, article, animal feed or property to its lawful owner (b); when the veterinary officer reasonably believes that it is not necessary to destroy an animal, animal product, animal by- product or article seized, he shall release the animal, animal product, animal by-product, article, animal feed or property to its lawful owner on conditional payment of any charges incurred, in connection with its impounding or other measures taken by the veterinary officer, AND (2); at the time of release, a veterinary officer shall, by order in writing, require an owner of any animal, animal product, animal by- product, article or animal feed to take measures to eliminate any risk associated with a notifiable disease.

8(1)(b); when the veterinary officer reasonably believes that it is not necessary to destroy an animal, animal product, animal by- product or article seized, he shall release the animal, animal product, animal by-product, article, animal feed or property to its lawful owner on conditional payment of any charges incurred, in connection with its impounding or other measures taken by the veterinary officer.
27 (3)(d)(e); the Minister may, by regulation, provide for the imposition and recovery of fees for disinfecting, or treating any animal, animal product, animal by-product or article which is imported and provide for the disposal of any imported animal, animal product, animal by-product or article in respect of which prescribed fees are not paid and of the proceeds resulting from their disposal.
70(2); the Minister may order the payment of compensation to the owner of an animal, animal product, animal by-product, article or animal feed destroyed or disposed of, under the powers conferred by this Act, where physical evidence is provided that the animal, animal product, animal by-product, article or animal feed was destroyed or disposed of as a consequence of the exercise of powers conferred under this Act.
71; the Minister may withhold compensation in whole or in part where the animal, animal product, animal by-product, article or animal feed was at the time it was imported into the country already infected or contaminated by a disease or did not meet the prescribed standard.

6(5); a person who contravenes an order made pursuant to this section commits an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding three hundred thousand penalty units or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding three years, or to both.
10; a person who obstructs or delays veterinary officers, inspectors or officers in the carrying out of their duties, commits an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding one hundred thousand penalty units or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year, or to both.
60(3); concerning restriction on importation of animal feed, a person who contravenes subsections (1) and (2) commits an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand penalty units or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years, or to both.
73; A person who- commits an offence and is liable— (i) for a contravention of paragraphs (c) and (h), to a fine not exceeding five hundred thousand penalty units or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years, or to both; or (ii) for any other offence, to a fine not exceeding two hundred thousand penalty units or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years, or to both.
49(2); any person who contravenes or fails to comply with any such notice shall be guilty of an offence, and shall be liable to a fine not exceeding three thousand penalty units or to imprisonment with or without hard labour for a period not exceeding six months, or to both.
