file cover image View

Description:

The Wapichan Wiizi lies in the South Rupununi region of Guyana and is home to many species of fish and wildlife, some of which are rare or threatened globally, like the red siskin, giant anteater, yellow-spotted river turtle and black curassow.  As part of the Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Programme, this engaging brochure presents facts and figures about the wildlife use in Wapichan Wiizi.

The SWM Programme in Guyana is encouraging coordinated community-driven initiatives that support food security and traditional livelihoods. These will contribute to maintaining healthy fish and terrestrial wildlife populations.
