Nous sommes très heureux de partager avec vous le dernier numéro du Bulletin du Programme de gestion durable de la faune sauvage (SWM Programme).

Vous y trouverez un aperçu concis des activités récentes du SWM Programme. Ce dixième numéro comprend une entrevue avec Robert Nasi, directeur général du Centre de recherche forestière internationale (CIFOR), les faits saillants de chaque site et un accent particulier sur les progrès réalisés sur le site en Guyana.

La Journée mondiale des oiseaux migrateurs est une campagne annuelle de sensibilisation soulignant la nécessité de conserver les oiseaux migrateurs et leurs habitats.

Cette année, l’accent est mis sur l’importance de « l’Eau » et des habitats y associées - lacs, rivières, ruisseaux, étangs, marécages, marais et terres humides côtières — dont les oiseaux migrateurs en dépendent pour la reproduction, le repos et le rechargement pendant la migration et l’hivernage.

Dans cinq pays du Sahel et de la Vallée du Nil, le Projet RESSOURCE, en collaboration avec les autorités nationales et les communautés locales, vise à:

• préserver les écosystèmes des grandes zones humides sahéliennes ;
• améliorer les connaissances sur les populations d’oiseaux d’eau et sur les prélèvements par la chasse ;
• développer des solutions innovantes de gestion et d’exploitation durables des zones humides et des populations d’oiseaux d’eau.

Let’s celebrate World's Migratory Bird Day!

World's Migratory Bird Day is an annual awareness-raising campaign highlighting the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats.

This year’s focus is ‘’Water’’ and its importance to migratory birds who rely on it and its associated habitats—lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, swamps, marshes, and coastal wetlands—for breeding, resting and refueling during migration, and wintering.

In five countries in the Sahel and the Nile Valley, the RESSOURCE Project, in collaboration with the national authorities and local communities, aims to:

• preserve the ecosystems of major Sahelian wetlands;
• improve knowledge on waterbird populations and on harvesting by hunting;
• develop innovative solutions for the sustainable management and exploitation of wetlands and waterbird populations.

Did you know that wetlands are critically important ecosystems that contribute to biodiversity, climate mitigation and adaptation, freshwater availability rural communities’ livelihoods, world economies and more?

On the occasion of the World Wetlands Day, find out more about this year’s theme ''Wetlands Restoration’’ and the RESSOURCE Project efforts to achieve this objective.

The RESSOURCE Project is helping local communities in Senegal to restore these vital ecosystems and turn them back into ponds suitable for water lily cultivation.  The project has helped Maia Diagne and her community regain access to water lilies, boosting biodiversity in the area and revitalizing traditional diets.

Célébrons la Journée mondiale des zones humides! 

Saviez-vous que les zones humides sont des écosystèmes d'une importance primordiale qui contribuent à la biodiversité, à l'atténuation et à l'adaptation du climat, à la disponibilité de l'eau douce, aux moyens de subsistance des communautés rurales, aux économies mondiales, et plus encore?

À l’occasion de la Journée mondiale des zones humides, apprenez-en davantage sur le thème de cette année, la «restauration des zones humides», ainsi sur les efforts du Projet RESSOURCE pour atteindre cet objectif.

Le Projet RESSOURCE soutient les communautés locales au Sénégal afin de restaurer ces écosystèmes vitaux, notamment, en réhabilitant des étangs propices à la culture du nénuphar. Le projet a permis d’aider Maia Diagne et sa communauté à avoir de nouveau accès aux nénuphars, à renforcer la biodiversité locale et à revitaliser l’alimentation traditionnelle.

TODAY 19.45 (UCT+1): Join the RESSOURCE Project at the 4th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP14)

The Sahelian Wetlands Site of the SWM Programme, the RESSOURCE Project, will hold a side-event at the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP14) (https://contacts.ramsar.org/participant/sideevent/details/51035 ), later today Wednesday 9 November 2022, at 19:45 – 20:45 (UTC+1). 

As this event will be in hybrid format, you will have the chance to hear first-hand from the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM), European Union and RESSOURCE Project partners about the project impacts and activities.

It is an exceptional opportunity to find out more about the waterlily initiative in the Senegal delta, the designation process of the fourth Sudanese Ramsar site and the Massive Open Online Course on African waterbirds and wetland.
